Blue Eye Samurai
Masterpiece!
This is one of the best pieces of entertainment I’ve seen in 2025. Though it was released in 2023 December.

While this isn’t considered anime technically, within the list there are animated series produced in Japan, China, the West and many other areas. So this will be rated within the anime rank list.

The action and storytelling in this series in absolutely amazing.
The animation is a work of art. Every other scene looks like it could be framed and hung on a wall. And it is unlike any other anime I’ve seen.

Not for kids however, too much blood and nudity. The nudity is though done in a non-erotic manner, it all adds beautifully to the show.
This show is a must watch!

Demon Slayer
I am not the biggest fan on how this show is animated nor do I think it is the some of the best animation I’ve seen. But I guess they’ve done some cool animation sequences, and I know hundreds or maybe even thousands of videos have been made about the amazing animation seen in Demon Slayer, so I have put on 10 on the animation score on this anime.
I find most characters besides Inosuke, who has a pig head, rather dull or bland. Tanjiro especially has little no character, the character is simply a perfect goody two-shoes character. Tanjiro always does the right thing and innocent and all things nice. I find this sort of character unrelatable and unlikeable. Nesuko and Inosuke are much more likable in my personal opinion.
Tanjiro, Nesuko, Inosuke and Zenitsu all have plot armor, since the plot would suffer without them. Nothing would ever happen to them even if everything is going south. Big boss enemy who is a 100 times stronger could face off against Tanjiro, he will make it out unscathed thanks to this plot armor.
Regardless, the series was fun on the whole and did leave me wanting for more. The animation though I complain is still quite good, well above average.

Sakamoto Days
Recently I’ve been noticing how shows built on one or two quirks quickly become boring. The quirk or funny bit might be very engaging initially, but it quickly loses it’s charm, and immediately becomes rather boring.
Sakamoto Days suffers from this issue. It’s very funny at the start. The funny quirk is that Sakamoto is like the most powerful assassin in the world, very skilled, basically undefeatable/invincible. But then Sakamoto finds a girl he likes, falls in love, gets married, has kids and becomes much more plump, and starts a convenience store. So world class assassin is casually running a convenience store. That’s kinda the funny part.
While more plump and less menacing looking, he is still very capable as an assassin though. I’m not why but the assassins in this story can move extremely fast, punch through steel and catch bullets with their hands. Sakamoto is basically Saitama from One Punch Man.
The story mostly copies the world built by John Wick but adds a funny twist to things.
I made it through season 1, but season 2.. I didn’t know why I was watching. It was rather boring. Animation was good and properly paced. But it didn’t matter, the quirk of Sakamoto being extremely strong had grown tiring.
There were meaningful attempts at making the side characters more relevant, their magical powers more powerful etc. But it didn’t really matter, the show revolved around Sakamoto and his quirk and the new characters introduced felt merely like side-characters introduced to waste time.
The characters who are supposed to be normal human beings managed to catch bullets just fine in the first season, doing the same thing in season 2 is not going to keep viewers interested. It’s too bad.. the animation, dubbing and other aspects of the show were quite well done. It’s still too hard to stay interested when you know that absolutely nothing could happen to the main characters and that the story isn’t really going anywhere.
They could probably get some kids to watch though, could be a lucrative business strategy. I won’t be continuing to watch this show though.

Blame!
Netflix made a movie out of Blame! ! And it’s pretty good!
While the movie couldn’t cover too much of the story, it still managed to get me and others interested in Blame!.
The animation was pretty great. While there was heavy use of CGI, it still looked convincing, and the action was fun to watch.
The characters are unique and well animated, the storytelling does not over-explain each scene, and the world building is quite amazing.
Stakes were high throughout the movie and you couldn’t be sure of who would be eliminated next.
The series definitely has many layers and I hope we get a Blame! part 2.

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth
It was too dark to figure out what’s going on.
This was most scenes, ugh! They were all too dark.
And in between there would a scene which would be too bright, and the screen would be at max brightness because every other scene was too dark and the bright scenes would burn my corneas off!!
Here is a dark scene. Most scenes are super dark like this in this show. I tend to turn the brightness up, so that I can see better for shows like this.

And then suddenly you’ll have another scene like this, which just hurts your eyes.

There were many since things happening in the anime, too bad I couldn’t see any of it! Since everything was happening in the dead of night and it is all dark all the time.

Lord of Mysteries
Why the hell was this show so dark? I couldn’t see anything without cranking the display brightness up to the max! But when I do that the bright scenes would appear blindingly bright. Ugh!
Every time a show does this, I loose interest after a few episodes. There will be scenes that are clearly too dark, where I can’t make out what’s going on, and really.. you won’t care after a few episodes. “Let’s just get this over with” is the thought process you’ll probably have in your head.
This show has some amazing animation though, insanely good. I wonder if we can expect this from lots of other studios as well.

Dunkirk
I for some reason expected this to have a story as well. It seems much more like a super well directed documentary.

Ranma 1/2 (2024)
Super cute anime that is really fun you watch.
But this anime is built around one little quirk, and once you get used to that quirk, it’s a less engaging. The quirk is that the father-son duo can turn into a panda-girl duo if splashed with cold water.
This quirk is really funny and leads to a bunch of funny interactions at the start. But you grow used to it quickly and then it’s not as funny.
The story does progress though. It doesn’t feel like the show will be stretched out in order to make more money. If that were to happened, I might have trouble finishing the show.
