  • Made In Abyss

    Made In Abyss

After I’d watched Made in Abyss, I went to the supermarket. I saw a small child there, holding a barbie doll in her hand and doing cute child things. I would have normally thought, Aw cute kid, and moved on. But instead an image of the child dismembered into small pieces flashed in my head.

My eyes went wide, unable to believe what I had just thought. It was extremely disturbing. Although it was only for a quarter of a second, it was enough to tell me that Made in Abyss had affected me.

If you cannot handle like blood, violence and gore, you DO NOT watch this series. But it is easily one of the best anime I’ve ever seen.

Me not having known about this series all this time was a mistake.

  • Predator: Badlands

    Predator: Badlands

I went into this with no expectations what-so-ever, and was really surprised to find that this was a feel-good movie. A movie that emphasizes how important the journey and the friends we make along the way are. I really didn’t see that coming..

    Good movie though, really fun.

I did fall asleep for a short few minutes in between though, which was weird. But also surprising was how I missed absolutely nothing of significance during my nap. Which might indicate that the runtime was used ineffectively.

It could also indicate several other things about the reviewer, me..

The world building was sorta cool.

I watched the Chainsaw Man movie and the Predator Badlands movie back to back and I then assumed Predator would be ranked higher. But looking at the category scores, I guess the Chainsaw Man movie will be ranking higher.

  • v0.1.0 – Initial Release

    Release Date: November 15, 2025
    Version: 0.1.0
We are proud to announce the official release of Side-Track version 0.1.0. This release focuses on the passive workout logging and intelligent muscle capacity prediction. The core of this release is the introduction of a fatigue model that adapts to your specific strength levels in real-time.

    Major Features

    Automatic Strength Learning (Auto-1RM)

Side-Track now eliminates the need for manual data entry regarding your strength limits. The application attempts to learn your capacity as you train.

    • Real-Time PR Detection: Every set logged is instantly analyzed against your current strength profile using the Epley formula. If a set indicates a higher One-Rep Max (1RM) than previously recorded, your capacity limits are automatically updated.
    • Dynamic Difficulty Scaling: As your estimated 1RM increases, the fatigue calculations for future workouts automatically adjust. A weight that drained you significantly last month will drain you less today as your strength profile updates.
    • Historical Synchronization: For users with existing data, a new “Auto-Estimate from Workout History” tool in Preferences scans your entire log history to build an accurate strength profile instantly.

    Visual Muscle Engagement System

The Workout Screen has been redesigned with a new tabbed interface to provide predictive insights before you perform a set.

    • Exercise Info Tab: A dedicated view showing exactly which muscles are targeted by the current exercise, sorted by involvement percentage.
    • Predictive Fatigue Analysis: When selecting weight and reps, the display updates to show the predicted “drain” on your muscles before you log the set.
    • Live Capacity Monitoring: Muscle capacity is visualized with color-coded bars:
      • 70-100%: Fresh and ready for heavy load.
      • 40-69%: Moderate fatigue; performance may degrade.
      • 0-39%: High fatigue; failure is likely or rest is required.

    Advanced Fatigue Modeling

The underlying mathematics governing muscle fatigue have been rewritten to mirror human physiology more accurately.

    • Exponential Fatigue Scaling: The model now uses exponential scaling rather than linear. Lifting 90% of your max will drain muscle capacity significantly faster than lifting 50%, accurately reflecting the metabolic cost of high-intensity training.
    • Muscle-Specific Recovery: Recovery rates are no longer uniform. Large muscle groups (like Quadriceps and Lats) now have different recovery curves compared to smaller groups (like Biceps and Deltoids), based on biological recovery windows (24-48 hours).
    • User-Specific Intensity: Fatigue is calculated based on your personal 1RM. A 135lb lift is calculated as a warm-up for advanced users but a maximal effort for beginners, resulting in different fatigue impacts for the same weight.

    Enhancements

    User Experience & Customization

    • Authentication Overhaul: Replaced custom auth with a Supabase implementation of auth, supporting secure Sign in with Apple and Google.
    • Physics Engine Configuration: Advanced users can now fine-tune the fatigue algorithm in Preferences. You can adjust the “Fatigue Sensitivity,” “Recovery Rate,” and “MET Coefficient” to match your personal conditioning.
    • Manual Capacity Overrides: While Auto-1RM handles most updates, users can now manually view and edit their estimated maxes for all 27 supported exercises via the Preferences menu.

    Bug Fixes

    • Bodyweight Calculations: Fixed an issue where bodyweight exercises (like Pull-ups and Dips) were not correctly factoring in user bodyweight for fatigue calculations.
    • Tab Navigation: Resolved layout shifts when switching between “Log Set” and “Exercise Info” tabs.
    • History Deletion: Fixed a consistency issue where deleting a workout log did not always immediately reflect in the stats summary.

    Getting Started with v0.1.0

    1. Update Profile: Ensure your bodyweight is accurate in the Profile settings, as this affects fatigue calculations for bodyweight movements.
    2. Sync History: Navigate to Preferences > Exercise Capacity Limits and select “Auto-Estimate from Workout History” to initialize your strength profile with your past achievements.
    3. Review Settings: Check Preferences to ensure the “Fatigue Sensitivity” is set to your desired training difficulty (Default is 8.0).
  • Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc

Good movie. But I either unconsciously expected better or the experience was lessened by having known exactly was going to happened.

This didn’t really need to be a movie. It was far better than the demon slayer movie though.

It is fun though, really fun, also depressing, but more importantly fun!

The manga version was way more gruesome than the movie version.

  • The Faraway Paladin

    The Faraway Paladin

Watched to kill time. Best part of the series was how un-addicting it was.

The MC is a adventurer priest of the god of light and he’s trying to get people to worship the god he worships again. That was new.

  • Delicious in Dungeon

    Delicious in Dungeon

One of the best world-building I’ve ever seen in anime.

Every piece of the world in this dungeon is explained. It amazed me that that was even possible.

There were several instances where I thought, oh they didn’t explain this bit, but that’s okay, since I can’t expect them to think about every small detail. But then in an episode or two they would explain whatever I thought they’d missed. Every detail and minutia was explained well and in an entertaining manner.

    It was amazing!

This show is so much more than cooking videos.

If you make it to the end, then you’ll see why the character development score is a 10.

  • Solo Leveling

    Solo Leveling

Solo Leveling was voted as the crunchyroll best anime of the year. Which is such a let down, considering all the great anime that came out alongside Solo Leveling.

Here is trends graph of Attack on Titan vs Solo Leveling and Frieren. Attack on Titan is a show everyone knows of at this point, Frieren has held the title of the best anime every on MyAnimeList for the past two years, and Solo Leveling is all about Aura Farming.

And Aura Farming absolutely crushed good story telling brought forward by Frieren. Solo leveling almost surpassed attack on titan at one point, which means it was likely more popular that several Hollywood movies.

I believe Aura Farming is going to have even more of an impact on anime for a while, because of how well Solo Leveling performed.

Even as a manhwa, it was immediately evident that this series was all about Aura Farming, because of that, the protagonist is never in any real danger. Of course Sung Jinwoo will be victorious and save the day somehow. The show was still fun to watch though.

But then One Punch Man season 3 came out. This was one horribly animated show. Compared to that, yeah, solo leveling was leagues better.

Hiroyuki Sawano made several sound tracks for this show, I guess they really had high hopes for the show, and it did live up to that. All the manhwa readers who proclaimed that this would be one of the most popular anime to come out were proven right.

Still quite a let down that aura farming beat all the other good show.

  • Clannad

    Clannad

I watched this since it was so highly rated, I figured the series would be absolutely amazing by the end perhaps. But I truly don’t know. I’m watching Clannad After-Story at this point, and the show is quite boring.

The best part about the show to me is how un-addicting it is. It takes little will-power to close the tab and go back to work, which is see as a huge win. But it would be awesome if the series was fun as well.

You can truly see that animating things back then was far more difficult. The series is very slow, not that it wastes time, but animation was simply harder to do back then.

I saw reviews mentioning how the anime completely broke people and left them sobbing. And here I am watching it at an increased speed and skipping through emotional bits. I know what they’re going to say, it’s incredibly predictable, I don’t need to see it.

    Wasted time:

The show does waste time though, there are ghosts and spirits, who we spend hours and hours with, after which they seem to have no relevance what-so-ever. Why did we invest so much time into this ghost if nothing important was to happen concerning the ghost?

Outside of Clannad having an after-story which shows difficult parts of a relationship, I can’t really see what’s special about this show.

The show is as interesting or often times less interesting than your own life. Mostly nothing happens.

I’ve heard it was the bees knees back in the day, it doesn’t seem that way to me now.

  • Fate/Zero

    Fate/Zero

Has really really nice fight scenes, and the story is cool, sound tracks are cool, action sequences are awesome.

Each noble phantasm and their summoners have different powers and limitations. And everyone is one mistake away from death. The limitations along with their varying ideologies make the show feel so alive.

  • Land of the Lustrous

    Land of the Lustrous

One of the best world building I’ve seen in anime. Studio orange who animated this kinda stood out with it’s choice to heavily rely on CGI. But it is largely agreed that it was a fantastic decision considering how well this anime turned out.

The character development was so good in this series. If the characters in this series get chipped or lose parts of their body, they literally lose parts of their memory. And if they replace it some other item instead of the piece they lost, their character is altered according to how large the modification was. And there are a lot of instances exactly where this happens.

There is only one human in the whole story and he has special powers. The gem stone people go around destroying sun spots, and it’s not clear why they’re doing this or why the sun spots are trying to steal the gems. My initial guess was that maybe they can combine different things and create a human, but I am too uninformed to say if that’s true. There is no much mystery, so much to discover, and it’s all so well laid out.

The sound tracks created for the show work wonderfully together as well.

It feels like I’ve only seen a small portion of what the story has in store and I’m really excited to see or read what’s up ahead.
